McConnell's Office Told Me to Delete This. No.

Yesterday, McConnell’s office reached out through an intermediary, of course, and asked me to delete this post naming the senior staff who run his DC office. Public employees, public titles, paid by you.

I said no. Here’s the record they’d rather you not sit with.

June 14, 8:36 a.m. — A dispatch call goes out for an “unconscious” person at McConnell’s D.C. address. An advanced life support ambulance is sent. Six minutes later, a medic radios “CPR in progress.” At 8:43, the dispatcher relays it as a “cardiac arrest.” The senator isn’t named in the audio. It’s his address.

June 14, later that day — His office announces he’s been admitted to the hospital and is “receiving excellent care.” That’s the whole statement. No cardiac arrest. No CPR.

June 15 — Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Whip John Barrasso tell reporters they’ve spoken with him. One day after the ambulance.

July 2 — After weeks of silence, the office issues a new statement: he “continues to improve” and is “working closely with his staff.” Every press inquiry after that gets the same statement, recycled.

July 12 — 28 days in, McConnell finally speaks. In writing. He had a fall, was “briefly unconscious,” picked up mild pneumonia. His doctors ruled out broken bones, concussion, heart attack, stroke, tumors, hemorrhages. Notice what that very thorough list never mentions: cardiac arrest.

Today — 40 days since the ambulance. One undated photo. Zero video. Zero interviews. Brief calls to political allies, arranged by his office. And a request that I delete a post.

The corporate press asked politely, got a recycled statement, and moved on. Independent journalists stay on the story. We continue asking questions when met with silence, because stonewalling from a taxpayer-funded office about a sitting senator’s fitness to serve is an active decision, made by people on the public payroll, to withhold critical facts from voters.
