Declaring war to escape the economic consequences in your country has been done many a time throughout history but really since such things as numbers relating to society and its wellbeing being the measure of one’s success. Monarchies didn’t have to worry about reports as such but an overall atmosphere of their subjects. Misreading that could cost one one’s head after all. Other reasons? Nationalistic fervor, need for more land; there’s always a reason that can be cooked up at the last minute. What the last thing we need now though is a demented dumb-ass in charge of those things that can blow the world to smithereens.
But sure give away all your info to corporations and data brokers. The census does not ask for much and the government knows about you anyway. Not being counted means not having a chance at representation.
